LTZC Heavy-Duty Crane Slewing Bearings Exported to Southeast Asian Countries

I. Heavy-Duty Cranes in Southeast Asian Ports: Slewing Bearing Upgrades for Harsh Operating Conditions

The key client for this export project is a port operator in a Southeast Asian nation. Their fleet comprises 100–500-ton-class port portal cranes, 200–800-ton-class heavy-duty crawler cranes, and 50–200-ton-class marine cranes. These assets are primarily deployed in scenarios involving container handling, bulk cargo operations, heavy equipment hoisting, and port infrastructure construction.

The client's core requirements centered on four key objectives: enhancing equipment safety through upgrades, reducing operation and maintenance (O&M) costs, extending service life, and ensuring robust adaptability to harsh operating environments.

1.1 Environmental Conditions

Operating Conditions & Technical Requirements: High-temperature, high-humidity, and salt-mist-laden environment; heavy-load impact combined with high-frequency slewing.

Temperature: -10°C to +60°C ,surface temperatures at the port can exceed 55°C during the summer;

Humidity: 85%–95% ,characterized by frequent rainfall throughout the year and high atmospheric humidity;

Corrosion: Severe corrosion caused by salt mist;

Dust: Port handling operations generate substantial amounts of dust from containers and particulate matter from bulk cargo.

1.2 Equipment Operating Conditions

Crane Types: Port portal cranes, heavy-duty crawler cranes, and marine cranes;

Rated Lifting Capacity: 50 tons to 800 tons;

Slewing Speed: 0.1–1 rpm ;

Working Class: A7–A8;

Core Load Parameters: Axial load: 500–5,000 kN; Radial load: 300–3,000 kN; Tilting moment: 1,000–20,000 kN·m. 1.3 Technical Parameter Requirements

Bearing Type: Three-row roller external-geared slewing bearing;

Material: 42CrMo;

Heat Treatment: Hardness 58–62 HRC; hardened layer depth ≥ 5 mm;

Precision Class: Class P5;

Sealing: Triple labyrinth + contact seals;

Corrosion Protection: Zinc-chromium coating and specialized anti-corrosion grease; salt spray resistance ≥ 5000 hours; suitable for highly corrosive port environments;

Service Life: ≥ 40,000 hours;

Accessory Requirements: Supply of a complete set of mounting bolts, lubrication system, installation drawings, and technical guidance.

II. LTZC Customizes Slewing Bearings for Southeast Asian Crane Clients

As the slewing bearings currently in use by the client remained installed on their equipment, LTZC dispatched engineers to the client's facility to conduct on-site measurements. They meticulously recorded key specifications—including the inner diameter, outer diameter, height, number of teeth, module, and mounting hole details—of the existing bearings. Furthermore, they analyzed the root causes of the bearings' failure and damage, discussed potential solutions with the client on-site, and subsequently drafted detailed CAD and 3D technical drawings.

Material Upgrade: Utilizing 42CrMo alloy steel to enhance impact resistance and corrosion resistance. This significantly boosts the material's strength, toughness, wear resistance, impact resistance, and anti-corrosion properties, enabling it to withstand massive overturning moments and heavy-load impacts.

Quenching Treatment: The hardness of the raceways and gear teeth surfaces reaches 58–62 HRC, with a hardened layer depth of ≥5 mm, ensuring superior wear resistance and fatigue resistance. Meanwhile, the base material of the inner and outer rings maintains a moderate hardness, offering high toughness and excellent impact resistance.

Bearing Sealing System Upgrade: Features a triple-seal design—comprising a labyrinth seal, a contact-type fluororubber seal, and a dust-proof retaining ring—to effectively prevent impurities from entering the interior of the bearing.

High-Temperature, Anti-Corrosion Lubricant: LTZC's proprietary high-temperature, anti-corrosion lubricant is applied to critical areas—including the bearing seal grooves, gear teeth surfaces, and mounting holes—ensuring stable, long-term operation within a temperature range of -20°C to +120°C.

Enhanced Corrosion Protection: Features a zinc-chromium coating combined with a passivation treatment, making it ideally suited for the highly corrosive environments typical of port operations. Verified by third-party testing, the coating withstood over 5,000 hours of salt spray testing without exhibiting any signs of corrosion.

Structural Optimization: Adopts a three-row roller slewing bearing structure with external gearing, delivering a combination of high load-bearing capacity and high precision.This design is capable of meeting the heavy-duty operational demands of 800-ton class cranes.

LTZC Crane Slewing Bearings Earn Deep Customer Trust

To further validate product performance, LTZC commissioned a leading domestic third-party testing agency to conduct comprehensive performance testing on a batch of custom-designed slewing bearings for heavy-duty cranes destined for Southeast Asia. The agency issued an authoritative test report, featuring data that is 100% transparent and fully traceable, allowing customers to review and verify the results at any time.

Summary of Key Test Results:

Material: 42CrMo alloy steel; chemical composition and mechanical properties fully comply with the GB/T 3077-2015 standard.

Heat Treatment: Raceway and gear tooth surface hardness measures 59–61 HRC, with a hardened layer depth of 5.2–5.8 mm, meeting all design specifications.

Bearings Precision: Slewing accuracy is ±0.08°, axial runout is 0.018 mm, and radial runout is 0.012 mm—meeting the P5 precision class standard.

Salt Spray Corrosion Resistance: No signs of corrosion observed after 5,000 hours of testing—far exceeding industry standards.

Fatigue Life: After 1,000 hours of dynamic fatigue testing, no wear or spalling was detected; the bearing's fatigue life reached 1.8 times the international standard.

Upon the completion of mass production, LTZC invited representatives from the Southeast Asian client to visit the factory for on-site acceptance testing. The client representatives were granted full access to observe the entire production process, conduct spot checks on product quality, cross-verify test data, and manually test the rotational flexibility of the bearings. Throughout the acceptance process, LTZC technical engineers provided full-time support—offering detailed explanations and addressing the client's questions on the spot. Highly impressed by the product's quality, precision, performance, and manufacturing craftsmanship, the client representatives signed the official Acceptance Certificate on-site, confirming that all products fully met the contractual requirements and were perfectly suited for the intended operating conditions.
